Local system measurements

SiliCue processes system measurements such as CPU, memory, battery, thermal state, disk capacity, and network status on this Mac. Health history is retained for up to 30 days in the app’s local data area. The App Store and Advanced apps use separate app identities and separate local data directories. These raw health and system measurements are excluded from optional product analytics and are not sent to the developer, an advertising service, or an analytics service.

User-started performance sessions store their start time, end time, average values, and peak values locally. A separate copy of per-second raw measurements is not archived.

Advanced local security model

SiliCue Advanced uses a separate app identity and local data directory. On an exact validated Mac model, macOS major version, and reviewed OS build, read-only telemetry may show battery temperature, voltage, signed current, and derived power flow; CPU/GPU sensor-group hotspot and average temperatures; system-wide GPU utilization; and fan actual, target, minimum, and maximum RPM. The Mac model identifier and OS build number are used locally only for compatibility matching. Battery, component-temperature, and fan providers request only reviewed keys. The GPU provider requests the driver's read-only performance-statistics property for one sample; the full dictionary exists transiently in memory only for that call. The provider extracts and exposes only Device Utilization %; it does not persist, archive, display, report, or upload the other entries. The providers do not request, persist, display, or upload serial number, manufacturer, unique device identifier, user path, or network identity properties. Measurements are processed on this Mac, are subject to the local-retention limits described above, and are not uploaded to the developer or an analytics service. An unsupported model, macOS version, OS build, missing sensor, or invalid reading remains unavailable. Numeric CPU/GPU temperature is offered only on the Mac17,2, macOS 26, and OS build 25F84 or 25G76 combinations as sensor-group hotspot and average values.

The current edition does not install a helper or offer fan control. If a supported hardware operation is enabled in the future, it will run only after an explicit user action through a narrowly scoped helper that rejects arbitrary commands, with mandatory time, thermal, and safe-return limits.

Per-app resource analysis

This feature is off by default. Only after explicit consent, the foreground app’s name and bundle identifier are correlated with system load. SiliCue does not read window titles, screenshots, keyboard input, file contents, or visited addresses. While the Mac is on battery power, the app name may be correlated over time with system-wide CPU, memory, network, thermal state, and total battery power flow when available to show possible battery impact. This is not a direct measurement of the app’s own energy consumption. Observations remain in memory and are erased when the feature stops or the app quits.

Storage map

SiliCue scans only a location the user selects through the macOS folder picker. A security-scoped access record is stored on this Mac so the permission can be reused. File names, relative paths, and sizes are processed locally and are not sent to a server. The user can remove the permission in the app.

On-device artificial intelligence

On supported systems, symptom text entered by the user, limited to 500 characters, is classified into a hardware category using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework. The input and model session are not written to disk or sent to a third-party AI service. Recommendations are produced from verified local rules and are not an authorized service diagnosis.

User-started network tests

SiliCue reads the connected Wi-Fi standard, frequency band, channel, channel width, security type, signal and noise values, local IP addresses, default gateway, and DNS servers on this Mac. macOS requires Location permission to disclose the connected network name (SSID), access point identifier (BSSID), and country code. Permission is requested only after the user presses the relevant button. SiliCue does not start location updates and does not read, store, or send physical location.

When the user starts a latency and stability test, the app makes temporary requests to the small connectivity-check resource at www.apple.com to measure DNS and HTTPS access. The app provider cannot access those requests, the user’s IP address, or Apple’s connection logs.

The internet speed test sends encrypted download and upload requests to Cloudflare’s speed.cloudflare.com service only after the user sees the data-processing disclosure and explicitly agrees. After a warm-up round, the test uses parallel transfer streams. Quick mode can use up to approximately 155 MB, and comprehensive mode up to approximately 185 MB. While operating the service, Cloudflare may process the user’s IP address, approximate city/country and network provider (ASN) derived from it, and connection measurements under its own privacy terms, and may publish anonymized measurements for Internet research. The SiliCue developer cannot access those logs, and the app does not separately send the measurement summary to Cloudflare. Download and upload results are stored only in the app’s local health archive. Full Scan can also run with internet tests skipped.

Purchase status

Live metrics and core health, performance, battery, and network tools are free. Optional SiliCue Pro is offered as a monthly auto-renewable subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase managed by Apple. Eligible new monthly subscribers may receive a one-week free trial on the purchase sheet. Apple handles purchase, renewal, trial eligibility, cancellation, restoration, and refund processing; SiliCue does not receive payment-card or bank information.

Local reports and Apple Diagnostics guide

A weekly health report is created on this Mac only when the user requests it. User notes, app names, serial number, user name, Wi-Fi network name, IP address, and file paths are excluded, and the report is not automatically sent to a server. The Full Scan report also excludes access-point identifiers, local IP addresses, gateways, and DNS servers. Pressing Share Report opens only the macOS share sheet; SiliCue does not record the recipient or sharing action. If the user completes a share, the selected service may process the report under its own terms. An Apple Diagnostics reference code entered by the user is explained only on screen and is not stored in the health archive.

Optional product analytics

Product analytics is off by default and is not required for SiliCue to work. Only after explicit opt-in may closed categories be sent, including feature openings; categorical start, success, cancellation, or failure outcomes for test, report, purchase, and restore workflows; and the Pro access category. Before consent, no random installation identifier is created and no event is recorded, queued, or later replayed. The post-consent random identifier is not linked to a user account, Apple ID, another device, or a hardware identifier and is not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.

Product analytics never includes price, currency, receipt, transaction ID, payment details, or Apple account; raw CPU, memory, storage, battery, health, or temperature measurements; Mac serial number, hardware UUID, or an exact device fingerprint; SSID, BSSID, IP, gateway, or DNS information; running app names or bundle identifiers; file paths or names; symptom text, user notes, report contents, exact error text, or logs. Consented unsent events are retained on this Mac for at most 7 days. Raw server events are deleted within at most 30 days; non-identifying aggregate statistics may be retained longer. Access is limited to people operating and securing the service, and data is not sold or shared for advertising.

Turning product analytics off stops delivery immediately and deletes the random identifier and unsent queue on the device. A later opt-in creates an unrelated identifier. Previously delivered raw events are deleted within at most 30 days and are not relinked to the new identifier.

Tracking and third-party sharing

The app does not use advertising, user profiling, third-party analytics, or data brokers. Optional first-party product analytics operates only after explicit opt-in and within the limited scope above. Data is not sold or shared for behavioral advertising or cross-app tracking. The only other technical network communication described here is with Cloudflare’s speed-test service during a user-started internet speed test.

Website

This legal and support website is delivered through Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and technical request logs under its own terms to deliver and secure the site. The provider has not added advertising, analytics, tracking cookies, or user accounts to this website.

Retention, deletion, and withdrawing consent

Users can delete health history in Settings, stop per-app analysis at any time, and remove storage-folder permission. When the App Store edition is deleted, macOS removes its protected app container. The Advanced edition identifies its separate local data directory and removal steps in the app. Location permission for Wi-Fi details can be withdrawn in macOS System Settings.

Accuracy and service boundary

SiliCue is an informational and preliminary assessment tool. It does not guarantee the absence of a fault, perform a physical inspection, or replace evaluation by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
