Start safely with SiliCue

1. Begin with Overview

Review the current summary for CPU, memory, battery, thermal state, disk capacity, and network traffic. When a supported SiliCue version and Mac provide GPU memory information, unified-memory capacity and the app’s current Metal allocation are separate measurements; current allocation is not total GPU memory. An unsupported value is not shown as zero; it is explicitly marked unavailable.

2. Network and Wi-Fi details

Basic connection status is available without an extra permission. To show the connected Wi-Fi name and access-point details, macOS may request Location permission only after you press the relevant permission button. SiliCue does not read physical location or start location updates.

Latency and speed tests begin only after your action. Before the Cloudflare speed test starts, the app shows the data-processing disclosure and requires your explicit consent. The speed test can use approximately 155 MB in quick mode or 185 MB in comprehensive mode, and results can vary with connection conditions.

3. Health and capacity tests

Run the quick test first. The deep test can take about eight minutes and uses controlled CPU, app-owned Metal, memory, and temporary-storage workloads. The Mac may become warm or increase fan speed. You can cancel the test, and the load is reduced or stopped when macOS reports a serious thermal state.

4. Full Scan

Full Scan runs the available system, hardware, battery, storage, and network checks in sequence and creates both a technical and plain-language local report. Before starting, consider power connection and network-test data use. The result is not an authorized service diagnosis.

5. Permission-gated features

• Per-app resource analysis: after explicit consent, it correlates the foreground app name with system-wide resource pressure. In-memory app observations are cleared when monitoring stops.
• Storage map: scans only the location you choose in the macOS folder picker. You can remove the permission in the app.
• Notifications: used only for health alerts or scan reminders you configure.
• On-device AI: on supported systems, classifies short symptom text on the Mac and does not send it to a cloud AI service.

6. Safety limits

If you notice a swollen battery, liquid exposure, a burning smell, severe overheating, or unexpected shutdowns, stop the tests, shut down the Mac safely, and contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. SiliCue does not replace Apple Diagnostics or a physical service inspection.
